And So It Begins

We made it. Day 1 was a practice run in San Francisco and we feel very lucky it was just a test. We have a lot to learn. The weather was a gift. The fog, the chill, the wind…all disappeared for us the last two days.

Our day:

We hit the Ferry Building for a bustling farmers market where we got to pick out our favorite picnic food. I LOVE picnics (Shannon) so much so it was perfect. Donna just loves the Ferry Building Farmer’s Market after living in SF for 3 years many moons ago.

It turns out stop 2 (a Golden Gate Bridge shot) was longer than expected on our lyft rental bikes. It felt significantly longer for Shannon. After 5 miles of biking and a GIANT hill that Shannon felt ashamed to walk-up while Donna blazed on up the hill 100 yards ahead…it became evident that Donna picked an e-bike. Lucky, lucky Donna. The hills of San Fran are no joke.

We continued our journey while struggling to navigate transportation options. We had high hopes of utilizing public transportation..and failed. We will keep trying!

Highlights- Golden Gate Park and the Japanese Tea Garden, SF Botanical Garden and the Conservatory of Flowers!

Next we were off to Lombard Street, the world’s most crooked street. The challenge involved walking up the street. No problem for Shannon. . . but I (Donna) was leaned over, breathing pretty hard at the end.

Next was North Beach, to see Washington Square and discover why it’s no longer a square. Whew! There was a lot of marijuana being consumed in that park. Our next stop was to 2 bars that were relevant to the “Beat Movement”. Lots of day drinking going on in the city.

Finally we ended up in Chinatown where we found our zodiac signs, attempted to google translate the Entry Gate (failure) and sampled fortune cookies.

10+ tasks accomplished, but we were worried for a bit. We are now boarding our flight for…Seoul! Donna has actually been to Seoul before.

These posts will probably not be quite as long or witty in the future. Byeee!
